Live with Device and other Artistic Endeavors
In HS I made beats for a rapper in my Chemistry
class. The Klaus Kinski to my Werner Herzog, we
recorded just two singles with my
Mixman
DM-squared USB mixer. The second single, "Two
Whites with One Mic," has been forever lost in the
ghostly rumblings of the Windows 95 era. Here is
the first single, and in my opinion, the pinnacle
of modern rap:
"Torn Away" by Eltrain, produced by Leon Ferri, 2002
At university, my musical involvement became strictly that of my radio
show, except for a satirical hardcore band with a message of safe sex...
Or death.
When I began my 80s-focused program at WCDB,
I found myself warming up to electronic music and
generally synthetic sounds. A fellow DJ and I put
together a low-fi synth-psych arrangement with
plenty of pedals to compliment, called Live with
Device. We performed live sets on the radio
and one midnight guerilla show in front of SUNY
Albany's fountain. It is on Myspace if you must.
Recorded this by myself in
June 2012 - A Wedding
Present cover.
